What is the course about?
The Foundation Programme in Media Studies (Access to Higher Education) is a comprehensive, one-year course which offers three pathways: Mixed Media, Digital Media and Visual Media, and prepares you for an undergraduate degree in a wide range of media-related subjects.
Who is the course for?
This course is for students who wish to study at university, but do not currently meet the standard requirements for direct entry.
What do I need to get on the course?
- GCSE Mathematics at Grade C or above, or equivalent
- IELTS 6 (with at least 5.0 in each component,) or equivalent
What will I study?
The Mixed Media pathway introduces you to the different media, including TV, radio and print, encouraging debate of key issues and placing an emphasis on academic studies. The Digital Media pathway focuses on practical skills and techniques, including interactive programming and animation techniques. The Visual Media pathway enables you to gain skills and experience in film-making and photographic work.
What qualification will I get?
You will receive an Access to Higher Education Diploma (Media Studies), including a list of the modules and units you have studied.
What can I do after the course?
Following successful completion of the Foundation Programme in Media Studies course, you will be able to progress to a wide range of universities to study for a range of undergraduate degrees, including Journalism, Film and Video, Photography, PR and Events Management, and Cultural Studies.
How much does it cost?
The Foundation Programme in Media Studies (Access to Higher Education) costs £6,500. You will be required to pay a deposit of £3,000 before enrolment, and complete your payment once you have enrolled. The fee includes your tuition, but does not include any accommodation, living or travel expenses.
