What is the course about?
The Humanities and Social Sciences Access to Higher Education course thoroughly prepares you for an undergraduate degree in the Humanities or Social Sciences, including Developmental Studies and International Relations.
Who is the course for?
This course is for students who wish to study a Humanities or Social Sciences undergraduate degree at university, but do not currently meet the standard requirements for direct entry.
What do I need to get on the course?
- GCSE Mathematics at Grade C or above, or equivalent
- IELTS 6 (with at least 5.0 in each component,) or equivalent
What will I study?
As well as developing your English for Academic Purposes and study skills, you will choose a core subject from History, Law, Psychology or Sociology, as well as two electives from Economics, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Politics, Social Anthropology or Sociology. An exciting aspect of this course is a two-day conference held jointly with the internationally-renowned School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
What qualification will I get?
On successful completion of the course, you will receive an Access to Higher Education Diploma (Humanities and Social Sciences), including a list of the modules you have studied.
What can I do after the course?
Following successful completion of the Humanities and Social Sciences Access to Higher Education course, you will be able to progress on to a wide range of universities to study undergraduate degrees in the Humanities and Social Sciences, including Developmental Studies, Economics, History, International Relations, Law, Philosophy, Psychology, Social Anthropology and Sociology. This course also offers special progression links with the London South Bank University and SOAS.
How much does it cost?
The Humanities and Social Sciences Access to Higher Education course costs £6,500. You will be required to pay a deposit of £3,000 in advance of enrolment, and complete your payment at enrolment. This includes your tuition but does not include any accommodation, living or travel expenses.
