What is the course about?
This exciting, unique course has been developed in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police Directorate of Forensic Services. It enables you to develop the skills required for a career as a scene of crime officer (SOCO) or a police officer, and results in a professional qualification which is recognised by the main employer in this field – the Metropolitan Police.
What will I study?
Providing training in the most up-to-date methods of crime scene forensic theory and practice, this course includes practical laboratory sessions as well as the opportunity to participate in simulated crime scenes, field exercises and forensic projects. You also learn how to obtain forensic evidence and present in a court of law.
As well as featuring modules in forensic biology and forensic chemistry, anatomy, physiology and criminal justice studies, the programme also covers practical modules such as forensic photography and crime scene investigation.
What do I need to get on the course?
160 UCAS points from:
- 2 A levels at Grade C, including science, or equivalent
As well as:
- 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English Language and Mathematics with Science desirable, or equivalent
- IELTS 5.5 (with at least 5.0 in each component,) or equivalent
What can I do after the course?
Following this course, you can progress to the third year of BSc (Hons) Crime Scene and Forensic Investigation at London Metropolitan University.
How much does it cost?
The Crime Scene and Forensic Investigation FdSc costs £6,500 per year. You will be required to pay a deposit of £3,000 before enrolment, and complete your payment when you enrol. The fee includes your tuition but does not include any accommodation, living or travel expenses.
