Who is the programme for?
The International Foundation Programme is for students from outside the UK, whose high school qualifications are not recognised for direct entry onto a degree programme at a UK University. Some students may also wish to study a foundation year, to introduce them to the UK education system. You must be 18 years of age or above on the first day of the course.
What do I need to get on the course?
- Good results for your high school certificate or GCSE equivalent
- IELTS 5.5 (with at least 5.0 in each component,) or equivalent
What will I study?
The course will start in the summer where you will begin working towards an IELTS qualification and be given an introduction to the course over a six week period.
You will study core modules in Business Studies, IT and Study Skills and be able to choose elective modules from Accountancy and Finance, Economics, Leisure and Tourism and Mathematics. You will also study basic IT skills.
With no more than 16 students in each class, you will benefit from close teacher support and a friendly class atmosphere.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through a combination of exams at the end of each semester and coursework.
What qualification will I get?
You will receive a certificate of achievement, showing your results for each module. The qualification will be acceptable as an officially recognised qualification at level 3 - the same level as A Levels in the UK.
What can I do after the International Foundation Programme?
Successful completion of the International Foundation Programme will open doors to degrees at undergraduate level at many universities across the UK. You will be given a strong foundation to continue with studying Business Studies, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Accountancy, Leisure and Tourism and IT - however the opportunies are endless!
